Sadly true. Guess self love and self respect goes a long way. Instead of seeing it as asking for gratitude, maybe we should see it as standing for self respect when taken for granted. People should respect one another and when they don't nothing wrong in reminding them to be respectful.

The way I came to see it is: the behavior in question is a personal choice - and the choice was made for some absolutely different reasons than getting some gratitude. So, the ungratefulness - as much as it could become to bother the unappreciated person - should be seen as the true colors of the other one. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Could also be ignorance or maybe true colors, we only get to know by patiently talking about it to the other :)

Ignorance is the true colors of the moment, no?

hmm could be, but if it's ignorance the person might genuinely be grateful when they are no longer ignorant. But if it anything other than ignorance then it is disrespect. altho ignorance also feels like disrespect.
